While the need for blood remains prevalent, the American Red Cross has said that they are happy with the recent turnout for blood drives in Indiana County.
The American Red Cross says that over the last year, Indiana County collected over 2000 units of blood and blood products at 73 blood drives. That averages out to close to 27 units a drive. It was also reported that 83 donors showed up for the Indiana County Day of Giving blood drive last month. Plans are in the works to make next year’s Day of Giving blood drive better as it will mark the 30th year of holding the blood drive on Martin Luther King, Jr. day.
Red Cross officials have called the generosity “amazing”.
The next opportunity for people to donate blood will be today from 1:30 to 6:00 PM at the Homer City American Legion on Mullen Avenue. After that, there will be blood drives at Connect Church in Homer City on Tuesday, March 14th from 1-6 and next Wednesday from noon to 6 PM at the KCAC.
