INDIANA OPTIMIST TOURNAMENT
At the Indiana Optimist Tournament yesterday, Northern Cambria walloped Homer-Center, 51-27. Ty Dumm scored 17 points for the Colts, while Caleb Palmer led the Wildcats with 10 points.
River Valley downed Central Cambria, 58-52. Luke Woodring led all scorers with 23 points. Dom Speal added 12.
Friday’s semifinal rounds feature Indiana taking on West Shamokin at 7 p.m., followed by River Valley and Northern Cambria at 8:15 p.m.
BASEBALL
The United Lions kicked off the Heritage Conference baseball season with a 13-2 win over Purchase Line. Brad Felix collected two hits and three RBIs for United. Connor Darr earned the win in relief, while Zack Travis pitched three scoreless innings. Andrew Smarsh collected a double for the Red Dragons.
Marion Center trounced Penns Manor, 15-0.
SOFTBALL
Marion Center used the long ball in an 8-0 shutout win over Penns Manor. Cheyenne Silvis had a grand slam while Lydia Miller added a two-run home run. Silvis earned the win on the mound after piling up 11 strikeouts and allowing no walks.
Northern Cambria downed United 13-3.
Indiana fell to Armstrong, 8-1.
