A longtime football coach and administrator with the Indiana Area School District has passed away.
Harold Duffy passed away Monday morning. A native of Johnsonburg, he had a love of football from an early age, even playing it at Edinboro. He served as an assistant coach under Bernie McQuown with the Indiana High football team from the mid-60’s to the early-80’s. He also served as the district’s athletic director for one year.
Off the football field, Duffy was a social studies teacher in the district. He was a substitute assistant principal at the Senior High in 1987 and later became the assistant principal in 1993, which he served until the 1997-98 school year when he became interim principal following the death of Dr. Daniel Cilo. He retired at the end of the school year, but he returned as the substitute assistant principal at the senior high in the second half of the 1999-2000 school year.
Current Indiana High principal Wade McElheny said that Duffy will be remembered for being someone who worked for the children of the district.
