The Indiana County Chamber of Commerce held its first ever Excellence in Education Awards Ceremony on Monday night.
Out of the seven teachers nominated, the recipient of a new 2023 Toyota Corolla was Kristy Hopper from the Marion Center School District.

She said she was honored to receive the award and the car.
And among the students nominated, Andrew Beer of Purchase Line was named student of the year and received a 2023 Mitsubishi Mirage.

Beer was surprised to win the car.
C.J. Spadafora said the event was a great success.
After the teachers and students were nominated, each group was graded by an independent panel to determine the winners.
