An Indiana County dairy farm is part of the annual Ice Cream Trail put together by the State Department of Tourism.
This year marks the sixth year for the program meant to promote state dairy farms. This year’s trail will feature 42 creameries across Pennsylvania. Among those listed is Lone Oak Farm in Marion Center. Tourism office executive director Michael Chapaloney says that people can enjoy a sweet treat on the trail and at the same time, support the state’s dairy industry.
Other stops on the trail that are close to Indiana County include Widnoon Soft Serve in Templeton and Vale Wood Farms in Loretto.
Participants are invited to sign up for the trail and track their progress online. Every time someone stops at a different location on the trail, they will receive 100 points. Once someone checks in at 6 different locations, they will receive a commemorative stainless steel scooper. The promotion will run through September 9th.
