With no significant rainfall over the last two weeks, much of the state is in a moderate drought category, including parts of Indiana County.
According to the latest maps from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the Eastern and Northern parts of Indiana County are in the moderate drought category. The rest is listed as “abnormally dry.” About 65 percent of the state is in the moderate drought category while about 35 percent is “abnormally dry.”
The Department of Environmental Protection has not issued any drought declaration directions for the state. Some rain is expected in the forecast for today.
