The Public Utility Commission last week released its annual Summer Readiness Overview report from the state’s electricity utilities, and all of them say they anticipate no trouble meeting the demand. That includes Penelec, which in its forward-looking ten-page report said it expected to complete inspections of its capacitors by May 17th, and its substation capacitor banks and transformer cooling stations by June 1st.
Penelec gave particular attention to a number of specific areas, including the Homer City/Quemahoning/Hooverville line, the Blairsville East/Social Hall line, and the Keystone Substation South Bend Terminal in our area.
The only note of concern Penelec has is continuing supply chain issues for equipment and materials, prompting it to expand its supply base and purchase additional inventory, place advance orders, and identify alternative materials it could use.
