After they were picked as the preseason favorite in the PSAC Coaches Poll, IUP was ranked 16th in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) preseason poll.
IUP is one of three PSAC teams in the poll. Shepherd comes in at No. 13 while Slippery Rock ranks at No. 15. Ashland, who opens IUP’s season August 31st at George P. Miller Stadium, takes the 12th spot on the list. Meanwhile, California (Pa.), Millersville, Kutztown and Gannon were listed as “receiving votes.”
The overall favorite is 2022 National Champion Ferris State. Rounding out the Top Five is Colorado School of Mines, Grand Valley State, Pittsburg State and Angelo State.
