Several motions hearings are scheduled for today in Indiana County Court, including one for a man accused of rear-ending a state police cruiser in February of 2023.
40-year-old David Paul Dilts, Jr. is due in court today for an omnibus pre-trial motion hearing. Dilts is charged with felony aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and other crimes in connection with a crash that happened on Airport Road on February 24th. Police say he was behind the wheel of a Ford F-150 going East on Airport Road and allegedly rear-ended the police car. After the collision, police said that Dilts got out of the truck and aggressively approached and shouted at the trooper. Police also spotted a white powdery substance around his nose. He allegedly refused to cooperate during field sobriety tests and spat a chunk of chewing tobacco in the officer’s face.
Along with five summary traffic charges, Dilts is charged with aggravated assault-attempt to cause severe bodily injury, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, DUI-controlled substance and simple assault.
Also due for a motions hearing today is 65-year-old Patrick Williams of Indiana, who is charged with rape by forcible compulsion, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse of someone under 16 and indecent assault of someone under 13. The charges were connected to an investigation started after two un-named victims informed Indiana Borough Police of the incidents.
