IUP fans expected a tough battle with Ashland, and they got one last night. They also got a Crimson Hawks win. Here’s Jack Benedict.
On the field after the game, coach Paul Tortorella said IUP had to work to overcome some glaring mistakes.
Tortorella said Quinn Zinoble and Karst Hunter were able to take advantage of a coverage error by Ashland, and it led to Zinoble’s leaping game-winning touchdown catch in the fourth quarter.
The coach says his defense came up big when it needed to.
Tortorella says IUP has a lot of room for improvement, especially on special teams.
Zinoble, who transferred to IUP for his final year of college eligibility, says he and Hunter spotted the Ashland secondary’s mistake on the game-winning catch.
Zinoble says IUP can’t keep making mental mistakes if they’re going to keep winning.
Zinoble says the extra work put in this summer by Hunter and the receiving corps paid off.
IUP will host East Stroudsburg in the Hall of Fame Game at 4 PM on September 9th.
