IUP’s Military and Veterans Resource Center director has been named by a publication to its 2023 Veterans Champions of the Year in Higher Education list.
Dr. Cory Shay was named to the list for his work at the center for the last 9 years. Shay is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom with experience in helping vets transition from military life to academic life. Joining IUP as the director the center in May of 2014, he has worked to change policies, procedures and institutional best practices for supporting veterans and military-affiliated students. IUP’s Military and Veterans Resource Center has received national recognition as one of the best schools for veterans.
The list was compiled by Military Friendly, and it will be published in the October issue of G.I. Jobs Magazine. In the statement, IUP Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Tom Segar said that it was gratifying to see him honored. He added that “His commitment reflects IUP’s student-centered priorities, including providing the highest level of support to our veterans and military affiliated students and dependents.”
