ICCAP is issuing an apology concerning Thursday’s Thanksgiving Food Distribution.
The event was held from 5:30 to 7:30 PM on November 16th, but there were many negative comments focusing on how late it got, people not waiting and leaving without their food distribution box and other complaints. In a letter on the organization’s Facebook page, Executive Director Michelle Faught apologized to those who were inconvenienced during the event. While they have had successful distributions in the past, she said “there are always unforeseen circumstances that trigger one issue or several to affect how smoothly a distribution of this magnitude runs.” In spite of the problems faced by ICCAP’s volunteers, 650 thanksgiving food boxes were distributed.
She also announced that putting together the boxes did have some financial problems as well, as they had to use community-donated funds to purchase the turkeys from local grocers as COVID-related money had run out. Because of that, supplies were limited and they were unable to receive a reduced purchase price for the turkeys. That led to a higher cost to support the distribution and why an alternative meat was distributed in some of the boxes as listed on their announcements.
She also asks for the community’s continued support, patience and kindness as they work to serve Indiana County.
