Indiana County’s district courts will be busy with several preliminary hearings today, including one for a Blairsville man charged with leading police on a chase and possessing large amounts of drugs.
Court documents show that 25-year-old Jacob Hankinson is charged in connection with an incident on April 28th. A state trooper on patrol in Burrell Township saw a motorcycle run a stop sign on Blaire Road and drive in an unsafe manner. Hankinson, who police said was the driver, took off on Blaire Road and later fled on foot into a nearby yard. During the chase, he dropped the backpack near the creek area, and it contained seven baggies of suspected methamphetamine totaling 203 grams, a small amount of marijuana, a Pringles container with a hidden compartment in the bottom, and a grinder. Police said Hankinson abandoned his motorcycle and tried to flee on foot but was eventually apprehended.
Along with several summary driving charges, he is charged with evading arrest, fleeing or attempting to elude police, flight to avoid apprehension, possession of marijuana and of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, driving on a suspended license and unauthorized use of motor vehicles.
