Whitesnake frontman David Coverdale is officially announcing his retirement.
In a video posted on Thursday, the musician said “after 50 years-plus of an incredible journey with you…, the last few years it has been very evident to me that it’s time really for me to hang up my rock ‘n roll platform shoes and my skintight jeans.” Coverdale thanked his fans and ended his statement by saying “it really is time for me to enjoy my retirement,” adding “I hope you can appreciate that.” The video includes a montage of Whitesnake photos and videos from the band’s various eras.
Whitesnake played their most recent show in June 2022 at Clisson, France’s Hellfest.
