Steve Lukather is responding to criticisms of Toto’s current lineup.
Although Toto is coming up on 50 years as a band, the guitarist is the last remaining original member of the group while the rest of the band is made up of touring members. During a recent appearance on the Rockonteurs podcast, Lukather defended the current lineup against those who suggest it is inauthentic. He said he wishes he could tour with the original members and he knows “the difference between the old and the new,” but what he’s trying to do is keep Toto’s old music “alive.”
They’re currently finishing up 2025 with shows in Mexico and South America, and have already announced a run of U.S. tour dates in 2026.
