PLAS JOHNSON, SAXOPHONIST BEHIND “PINK PANTHER” THEME, DEAD AT 94

The musician behind the “Pink Panther” theme song is dead.

Plas Johnson passed away on Wednesday at his home in Los Angeles. The musician’s children confirmed the news and said he had performed recently at his retirement community. Johnson began performing professionally at ten-years-old. He can be heard on Henry Mancini’s “The Pink Panther Theme,” from the 1963 movie.

Plas Johnson was 94-years-old.
