John Legend is joining the cast of the upcoming drama “The Road Home.”
The singer has been cast as singer, actor, and civil rights activist Harry Belafonte. The film follows jazz musicians Hugh Masekela and Miriam Makeba during the political controversy surrounding Paul Simon’s “Graceland” project in the late 1980s. In a statement, Legend says he was honored to have known Belafonte as a “friend, mentor and collaborator” and it’s a “privilege to be entrusted” to play him in the film.
“The Road Home” is currently filming in South Africa.
